(trendingpoliticsnews) – On Thursday, the highest-ranking officials of the New York City Police Department issued a memo directing all officers to be ready for mobilization in the wake of the grand jury indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Officers at every level are expected to carry out their responsibilities in uniform and remain on standby starting Friday morning after Thursday’s huge announcement of the indictment.

Bragg also acknowledged in a memo to staff that the office has been receiving offensive and threatening phone calls and emails. He thanked his staff of nearly 1,600 people for persevering in the face of “additional press attention and security around our office“ and said their safety remains the top priority.
The grand jury indictment stems from District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into Trump’s alleged role in organizing hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter…
A spokesperson for Bragg said in a statement that his office has reached out to Trump’s attorney to coordinate the former president’s surrender.
“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected,” the spokesperson said.
The sidewalks outside Bragg’s office were lined with police barricades on Thursday night. As security guards escorted the district attorney from the building to a waiting vehicle, someone on the street shouted “lock him up!”
A spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement quote:
“The mayor is in constant contact with Commissioner Sewell about all public safety issues affecting the city. The NYPD continues to monitor all activity and there are no credible threats to the city at this time.”
Security measures like this are not uncommon in high-profile cases involving public figures, especially in cases involving criminal charges of a former president. The police department and other law enforcement agencies often take proactive measures to ensure the safety of everyone.
These measures can include increased police presence, barricades, and other physical security measures at government buildings and courthouses, as well as providing security details for individuals involved in the case. In some cases, security may also be increased in the surrounding areas to prevent any potential threats to public safety.
