WATCH: Trump Calls For Death Penalty For Human Traffickers After Seeing ‘Sound Of Freedom’

(trendingpoliticsnews) -On Friday, former President Donald Trump called for the implementation of the death penalty for convicted human traffickers. The plea came after Trump hosted a screening of the widely acclaimed new film, ‘Sound of Freedom,’ at his Bedminster club. The film, which depicts the fight against child trafficking, has sparked a nationwide dialogue about the topic.

“I was thrilled to host a screening at Bedminster of the important new film, Sound of Freedom, about the power of faith in overcoming evil, and in particular, the evil of child trafficking,” Trump explained. “This is a very important film, and it’s a very important documentary all wrapped up in one. It’s really about an issue that has to be discussed.”

Trump drew attention to his administration’s efforts to curb trafficking, saying that under his leadership, the U.S. did more than any previous administration to combat the scourge. He cited the signing of executive orders aimed at transnational criminal organizations involved in human trafficking, as well as the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act, which authorized $430 million to combat sex and labor trafficking.

The former president also pointed out the legislation he signed to sanction countries failing to meet standards for eliminating trafficking. Trump further referenced the Abolish Human Trafficking Act, which provided additional resources to support survivors and efforts to end modern slavery.

Under his administration, Trump stated, “We created the most secure border in U.S. history,” crediting this for dealing a significant blow to the cartels and human traffickers. He vowed to restore these policies if he returns to office, promising to “fully secure the border” and to wage war on cartels, using Title 42 to return all trafficked children to their families in their home countries.

In his closing statement, Trump argued for an amendment in Congress to ensure the death penalty for anyone found guilty of trafficking children across the border, asserting, “And that includes also for women. Because women, as you know, are number one in trafficking. Children are actually number two.”

The speech ended with thanks to everyone involved in the production of ‘Sound of Freedom’ for their crucial role in spotlighting the grim reality of human trafficking. Trump concluded, “Together, we will end the scourge of human trafficking, and we will defend the dignity of human life.”
