(trendingpoliticsnews) – More Americans than ever believe President Joe Biden is implicated in the overseas business activities that have ensnared his son Hunter on felony charges and sent millions of dollars to other members of his family in a scheme that Republicans are calling the most brazen abuse of White House powers ever.
A poll by liberal news network CNN found that 61 percent of Americans believe President Biden partook in Hunter’s lobbying on behalf of foreign companies like Burisma in Ukraine and Bohai Capital, a venture capital arm controlled by state-owned banks in China. The president has furiously denied being part of “shake down” communications between Hunter and his overseas affairs. Just 38 percent of the 1,500 poll respondents believe Biden had no involvement.
House Republicans have been investigating the Biden family since taking control of Congress this year and have released eye-popping revelations from their investigation, including testimony from Hunter’s business partner Devon Archer that then-Vice President Biden took part in dozens of meetings between the duo and overseas business partners.
The most notorious example includes requests from executives at Burisma for Hunter to use his influence with the White House to help “relieve pressure” the company was facing under a corruption investigation by a Ukrainian prosecutor. Later documents reveal Vice President Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in economic aid to the country, and just weeks later the prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, was fired.
In another instance, President Biden wrote a letter of recommendation to an executive with Bohai Capital who later showered Hunter and his consulting firm with millions of dollars.
“I don’t know if it was an orchestrated call-in or not. It certainly was powerful, though, because, you know, if you’re sitting with a foreign business person and you hear the vice president’s voice, that’s prize enough. That’s pretty impactful stuff,” Archer told Tucker Carlson last month.
Appearing on CNN, pollster David Chalian said a “clear majority” of Americans believe, partisanship aside, that President Biden is not being truthful when he categorically denies his involvement in the affairs.
“Nearly two-thirds of independents think Joe Biden was involved in these business dealings as vice president,” noted Chalian, Mediaite reports, before also revealing that 55% of the population believe that Joe Biden’s posture toward the Hunter Biden investigation has been “inappropriate.”
“While Republicans are trying to gather evidence and somehow really connect the dots, again largely driven by partisanship, you see Democrats may not be buying this, Republicans certainly are, and independents are being convinced that there’s some Joe Biden involvement here,” opined Chalian.
House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) continue to lead the charge, subpoenaing bank records and calling witnesses, including potentially members of the Biden family, as they dig toward the source of the president’s involvement.
