REPORT: Trump Condemns Jan 6 Conviction Of Grandmother Who Prayed Inside Capitol For 10 Minutes

Former President Donald condemned the conviction of Rebecca Lavrenz, 71, who was convicted of multiple trespassing misdemeanors by a D.C. jury for walking around inside the Capitol Building for 10 minutes on January 6, 2021. She now faces up to a year in prison.

“Rebecca Lavrenz, also known as the “J6 Praying Grandma,” has been unfairly targeted by Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, and now faces up to 1 YEAR in prison for peacefully walking around the Capitol, and praying for our Failing Nation on January 6th!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Friday. “Rebecca is a 72-year-old Grandmother and Small Business Owner from Colorado, and now she is one of Joe Biden’s J6 HOSTAGES!!!”

“Crooked Joe Biden spends more time prosecuting Patriots like Rebecca, AND ME, than Violent Criminals, Thugs, Murderers, and ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who are destroying our Country,” the former president continued. “THIS IS WHAT WE ARE UP AGAINST. MAGA2024!”

The Department of Justice has vowed to arrest 2,000 Americans — almost entirely for non-violent trespassing misdemeanors — by January 2026. While the department has not been hunting down people accused of trespassing on federal property during protests for Palestine, abortion and other left-wing causes, where protesters have breached the White House gates and entered the House Cannon Building on numerous occasions, they have made more than 1,400 arrests in connection with January 6.

Not only are defendants hunted down on misdemeanor charges, they are handcuffed, shackled, paraded in front of their neighbors, smeared in the press, told they are “insurrectionists” and “traitors” by leftists, before finally being thrown in prison for nonviolent crimes.

Lavrenz faced this treatment when she was arrested by the FBI shortly before Christmas in 2022. By her own admission, Lavrenz was in the Capitol building for roughly 10 minutes before leaving. CCTV footage shows her peacefully parading around the building, even stopping to chat with Capitol Police officers on more than one occasion.

After reciting a short prayer, she left the building without causing any violence or vandalism. For this she was hunted down nearly two years later and charged with four trespassing-related misdemeanors such as picketing or parading in a government building

“I feel that my own country is treating me like a criminal. It’s because I believe that they stole my rightful president. And just standing up for my country makes me a criminal,” Lavrenz said in a video statement while holding back tears. “And it’s just not right. It feels so weird to be here. And it’s just not right. It feels so weird to be here. Over three years ago I was here.”
