Fox News has taken down “The Trial of Hunter Biden” series from its Fox Nation streaming service after receiving a legal threat from Hunter Biden’s attorneys. This week the attorneys raised concerns over the documentary’s inclusion of sexually explicit images of Biden, arguing that images, potentially obtained through hacking, may violate state revenge porn laws.
Originally launched in October 2022 on the network’s streaming service, the series was removed just one day after Hunter Biden’s legal team publicly issued their threat. Biden has accused the network of defamation among other allegations.
“This program was produced in and has been available since 2022. We are reviewing the concerns that have just been raised and — out of an abundance of caution in the interim — have taken it down,” a Fox News Media spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The Trial of Hunter Biden” was a six-part documentary series produced by Fox Nation. It aimed to provide an in-depth look into the legal and political controversies surrounding Hunter, the son of President Joe Biden. The series included reenactments and analyses of various allegations against Hunter, such as those involving his business dealings in Ukraine and China, and his personal struggles. The series has been a point of significant interest, reflecting political divisions within the Biden family.

According to a letter obtained by CNN, Hunter demanded that Fox News remove sexually explicit images that he claimed were private from its platforms. The action was part of his strategy to counter conservative media publicly. The letter, sent by Hunter Biden’s attorneys to Fox News accused them of conspiring to defame and unlawfully publishing “hacked” images. It also requested on-air corrections and retractions in online articles regarding claims that President Joe Biden and his son were involved in an overseas bribery scheme.
Hunter Biden’s attorneys Mark Geragos, Bryan Freedman, and Tina Glandian said in a statement, “For the last five years, Fox News has relentlessly attacked Hunter Biden and made him a caricature in order to boost ratings and for its financial gain.”
In 2022, the media outlet broadcasted a mock trial of Hunter Biden on its streaming platform Fox Nation, centered around unproven bribery allegations, and released “intimate images of Mr. Biden depicting him in the nude as well as engaged in sex acts,” as stated in the letter demanding immediate removal of the series from all streaming platforms.
Hunter’s intensified approach initially caused concern among some of Joe Biden’s political advisers. Despite this, Joe Biden has publicly supported his son, who is facing separate gun and tax charges in Delaware and California, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
The letter from Hunter’s attorneys asserted, “FOX knows that these private and confidential images were hacked, stolen, and/or manipulated digital material.”
“Consistent with the First Amendment, Fox News has accurately covered these highly publicized events as well as the subsequent indictment of an FBI informant who was the source of certain claims made about Mr. Biden,” a Fox News spokesperson said in a statement yesterday.
