(trendingpoliticsnews) – The FBI has agreed to brief Rep. James Comer (R-KY) Monday as part of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into an alleged bribery plot involving then-Vice President Joe Biden.
According to Punchbowl News, the clandestine agency will brief Comer and other members of the Oversight Committee “regarding confidential human source reporting,” according to Comer. The development comes after the FBI refused the congressman’s request to produce its FD-1023 form which details confidential interactions between agents and sources.
Speaking on Fox News Sunday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) retold the Oversight Committee’s efforts to seek the FBI’s compliance with its investigation into President Biden’s family and whether he accepted kickbacks for allowing family members to peddle influence in Washington on behalf of foreign companies. Comer claims a “highly credible” FBI whistleblower has come forward to say that the form sought contains evidence of such an arrangement.

On Friday the Republican leader spoke with FBI Director Christopher Wray and expressed his outrage that the spy agency, which is regulated by Congress, has so far failed to comply with a May 10 deadline to produce the FD-1023 form. McCarthy added that special counsel John Durham, who recently completed a years-long report into the FBI’s investigation of a nonexistent connection between Russia and President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, has not even acknowledged to House Republicans whether or not he has seen the document.
Writing to Rep. Comer, Durham responded that the FBI, by producing the form, would be validating its contents despite no evidence that the statements made are truthful.
“An FD-1023 form documents information as told to a line FBI agent. Recording the information does not validate the information, establish its credibility, or weigh it against other information known or developed by the FBI,” Dunham wrote to the Kentucky conservative.
Since taking control of Congress, House Republicans have sought to tie President Biden to his son Hunter Biden as part of nine family members accused of lobbying on behalf of foreign companies and not registering as foreign agents.
